Sunshine Adam is NBEC’s Digital Content Producer. Working with the Marketing and Communications and Social Media teams, they oversee the production of NBEC’s digital content including managing and developing content for the organization’s social media channels and website. Sunshine grew up in São Paulo, Brazil and attended the University of Florida, where they earned their B.A. and M.A. in Women and Gender Studies with research focusing on Black Feminism and Black wellness and liberation. They have years of experience at the nexus of Black wellness, health equity, digital communications, and social justice organizing. Previously, they have served as a researcher, research translator, healing facilitator, educator, and content creator for organizations such as the WELLS Healing Center and Academics for Black Survival and Wellness. With a passion for and commitment to Black healing and liberation, Sunshine recognizes the value of digital organizing and educational content creation as key to advancing movements for social justice. At NBEC, they strive to develop communication strategies to bolster the mission of supporting communities in achieving birth equity and wellness for Black pregnant and birthing people. When offline, you can find them swimming at North Carolina rivers and attempting to make art.
